Citrix Secure Private Access in UHMC

Over the past few years Citrix have taken steps to deliver more value to its customers, here they are doing it again by confirming that Citrix Secure Private Access (SPA) is now included as part of the Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi‑Cloud (UHMC) licence, at no additional cost. Previously, their SPA capability was only available to organisations licensed for the Citrix Platform.

This enhancement reinforces Citrix’s ongoing commitment to reducing complexity, strengthening security, and maximising customer investment in Citrix, while making zero‑trust access technologies more accessible to a broader set of customers.

What Is Citrix Secure Private Access?

Citrix SPA is a Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solution that provides secure, application‑level access to private and web applications without the need for traditional VPNs. Access is granted based on identity, device posture, and contextual policies rather than implicit network trust.

By including SPA within UHMC, Citrix enables organisations to modernise remote and hybrid access using the licences they already own.

Benefits for End Users and IT Teams

This addition delivers clear, practical benefits across organisations:

For end users

  • Seamless and secure access to applications from any location
  • Reduced friction compared to legacy VPN‑based access
  • A more consistent user experience across devices and environments

For IT and security teams

  • Stronger zero‑trust security controls built into the Citrix platform
  • Simplified access architecture and reduced reliance on VPNs
  • Lower cost and complexity by consolidating security capabilities into UHMC

The result is a more secure, scalable, and manageable access model that aligns with modern hybrid and multi‑cloud strategies.

A Clear Signal of Citrix’s Direction

From our perspective as Citrix specialists, this update is a strong signal of where Citrix is heading: more capability, fewer add‑ons, and greater built‑in value for customers standardising on UHMC.

“Including Secure Private Access within UHMC is a great addition for customers,” said Shane Garry, Technical Director at Enterprise Solutions.
“It gives organisations a powerful way to strengthen their security posture using zero‑trust principles, without introducing extra cost or licensing complexity. We see this as a very practical step that helps customers move away from legacy access models while improving both security and of course user experience.”

How Enterprise Solutions Can Help

At Enterprise Solutions, we help organisations fully understand, design, and implement the Citrix capabilities they already own. With SPA now included in UHMC, we can support customers to:

  • Assess where SPA can replace or complement existing VPN solutions
  • Design a zero‑trust access strategy aligned to business and security goals
  • Implement Secure Private Access across cloud, hybrid, and on‑prem environments
  • Ensure teams are getting maximum value from their Citrix UHMC investment

If you’re licensed for Citrix UHMC, now is the ideal time to review your access and security strategy and make sure you’re taking full advantage of what’s included.
